Why don’t you help me?

I had an experience that’s worth sharing here. Several times a day, for two days I tried to get the clock off the wall to change the battery. The clock has a gap in the back and this gap is mounted on a hook – try as I might, manoeuvring the clock every which way, the hook was well and truly stuck. As I have learned to rely on the clock, I didn’t want to give up.

I tried again on the third day and it was still stuck – then I said out loud, to the room (I live on my own) ‘Instead of hampering me, why don’t you help me instead?’ With that I lifted the clock off the wall with absolute ease … (I said thank you).
